Week 23: The Issachar Anointing (Times & Seasons)
Anchor Scripture: “Then Elijah said to Ahab, ‘Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.’ … And it came to pass in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain.” — 1 Kings 18:41, 45 (NKJV)
The Teaching
For three and a half years, the land of Israel had been a dust bowl. The sky was like brass, and the ground was cracked and dead. But on the top of Mount Carmel, after the fire of God had fallen, Elijah made a startling declaration to the King. He didn’t say, “I think it might rain.” He said, “I hear the sound of abundance of rain.”
At that moment, there was not a single cloud in the sky. To the natural ear, there was only the sound of dry wind whistling through dead trees. But the Prophet-Watchman does not rely on natural acoustics. Elijah was hearing a Spiritual Frequency. He heard the “rumbling” of the coming move of God before it manifested in the atmosphere.
This is a hallmark of the Issachar anointing: Auditory Precedence. You hear the “breakthrough” while you are still in the “battle.” You hear the “harvest” while you are still “sowing in tears.” The Prophet is the one who hears the rain first and alerts the people to prepare their vessels. If you wait until the sky is black and the wind is howling to prepare, you are a citizen, not a watchman. A watchman reports the “sound” so the people aren’t caught off guard by the “storm.”
Prophetic Insight
The “sound of abundance” often arrives as a faint vibration in your spirit. It might be a recurring word, a specific song that keeps playing in your head, or a “heaviness” (Day 106) that feels like humidity before a storm. Do not let the “drought” of your current circumstances talk you out of what you are hearing. If God says rain is coming, then the drought is already legally over, even if the ground is still dry. Your job is to stay in the “crouched position” of prayer (as Elijah did) until the “hand-sized cloud” appears. The sound is the signal to shift from Endurance to Expectancy.
The Activation
Identify a “dry area” in your life or church—a place where it hasn’t “rained” in a long time. Today, close your eyes and silence your natural mind. Listen with your spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit: “Lord, what is the sound of the next season? Do I hear the rumble of rain or the silence of continued testing?” If you hear the “rain,” start thanking God for the abundance before you see a single drop.
Daily Prayer: Lord God, I thank You that You are the Sender of the Rain. I ask today for the ears of Elijah. Help me to hear the sound of Your movements before they hit the natural realm. Forgive me for being discouraged by the dry ground. I choose to trust the ‘sound’ of Your Word more than the ‘sight’ of my circumstances. I prepare my heart today for the abundance that is coming. Amen.
