Series: The Year of the Prophet- Month 5: The Prophet’s Mandate: To Root Out and To Plant

Week 21: Planting for the Future (Sustainability)

Anchor Scripture: “See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant.” — Jeremiah 1:10 (NKJV)

The Teaching
We have reached the end of our fifth month in “The Year of the Prophet.” Over the last thirty days, we have moved from the “Seer Realm” into the “Operational Realm.” We have dissected the six-fold mandate of Jeremiah 1:10 and discovered that the Prophet is God’s primary agent of Reformation.

You have learned that your office carries a “destructive” authority to clear the ground—rooting out hidden sins, pulling down mental strongholds, destroying idols, and throwing down false altars. But you have also learned that this demolition is always for the sake of Construction. You are a Kingdom Architect, helping the Apostle build by the Heavenly Pattern. You are a Spiritual Gardener, cultivating the soil, guarding the tender growth, and planting seeds that will fruit for generations.

The “Finished Work” of the Reformer is not just a pile of rubble where an idol used to be; it is a thriving Sanctuary where the Glory of God now dwells. You have been trained this month to see the entire cycle of God’s work. You are no longer just a “voice crying in the wilderness”; you are a “builder on the wall” and a “planter in the field.” You carry the authority to disturb the status quo so that the Kingdom of God can become the new reality.

Prophetic Insight
A mature reformer is someone who has balanced the Sword and the Trowel. If you only have a sword, you will become a “religious warrior” who knows only how to fight. If you only have a trowel, you will become a “spiritual worker” who builds on top of rot. The Prophet must carry both. As we conclude this month, recognize that your authority is whole. You don’t have to choose between being “sharp” and being “nurturing.” God has given you the grace to be both. You are the one who ensures that the Church is not just alive, but ordered according to the Heart of the Father.

The Activation
Look back over the “Six Verbs” of the Jeremiah Mandate. Which one did you find most difficult to embrace this month? Which one felt most natural to you? Today, in your journal, write out your Prophetic Mission Statement for this season. (Example: “I am called to root out religious tradition and to plant seeds of intimacy in my family and church.”) Sign your name to this mandate as a finalized agreement with the King.

Daily Prayer: Lord God, I thank You for the authority of the Jeremiah Mandate. I thank You for the growth I have experienced this month. I embrace the full scope of my office. I choose today to be a faithful reformer. Give me the courage to tear down and the wisdom to build up. Let my life and my voice result in a harvest of righteousness that lasts forever. I am Your builder; I am Your planter. Amen.
