Series: The Year of the Prophet- Month 4: The Seer Realm & Divine Senses

Week 14: Awakening Spiritual Perception

Anchor Scripture: “But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” — Hebrews 5:14 (NKJV)

Now that your character has been forged in the wilderness, we move from who you are to how you function. This month, we explore the “Seer Realm”—the way a prophet perceives the invisible world and translates it for the visible one. This month is about the “Prophetic Process”—learning to see, hear, and feel in the spirit.

The Teaching
To navigate the natural world, God has given you five physical senses: sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. These senses allow you to interact with your environment and stay safe. In the same way, your “inner man”—your spirit—possesses five spiritual senses. The Office of the Prophet requires a high degree of “sensory coordination.”

Hebrews 5:14 reveals that spiritual maturity is not just about knowing the Bible; it is about having your spiritual senses exercised. The Greek word for “exercised” is gymnazō, from which we get the word “gymnasium.” It implies a consistent, rigorous training.

A Prophet is someone who has “gym-trained” their spiritual senses.

  1. Spiritual Sight: Seeing visions, dreams, or “perceiving” the spiritual state of a person.
  2. Spiritual Hearing: Discerning the still small voice or the audible voice of God.
  3. Spiritual Touch: Feeling “burdens” (Massa) or sensing a “check” in the spirit.
  4. Spiritual Taste: Finding the Word of God “sweet” or sensing the “bitterness” of a situation.
  5. Spiritual Smell: Discerning the “fragrance” of Christ or the “stench” of demonic activity.

In the Seer Realm, these senses work together to provide Discernment. Discernment is not a “hunch”; it is the data provided by your exercised spiritual senses. As we begin this month, you must realize that you are a spiritual being living in a physical body, and your “internal equipment” is being activated for Kingdom service.

Prophetic Insight
Many prophets live in a state of confusion because they don’t realize their senses are active. They think they are “moody” when they are actually “sensing” a spirit of heaviness in a room (Spiritual Touch). They think they are “daydreaming” when God is showing them a spiritual blueprint (Spiritual Sight). The first step to prophetic maturity is identifying which “gate” God is currently using. You don’t have to “try” to have these senses; you already have them. You just have to “exercise” them through “reason of use.” The more you pay attention to these subtle spiritual signals, the more they will “shout” the truth to you.

The Activation
Today, perform a “Sensory Check.” Throughout your day, pay attention to the “data” your spirit is receiving.

  • Did you feel a sudden “weight” when you walked into a room? (Touch)
  • Did a specific Scripture suddenly taste “sweet” or “nourishing” to you? (Taste)
  • Did you see a person and “perceive” their hidden pain? (Sight)
Write down which of the five spiritual senses felt the most active today.

Daily Prayer: Lord God, I thank You that You have fearfully and wonderfully made my spirit. I ask that You would awaken and exercise my spiritual senses today. Open my eyes to see, my ears to hear, and my heart to feel what You are doing. Forgive me for ignoring the signals of Your Spirit. I yield my ‘internal equipment’ to the training of the Holy Spirit. Let my senses be sharp to discern both good and evil for Your glory. Amen.
