Day 7: The Servant – No Secrets

Series: The Year of the Prophet- Month 1: The Anatomy of a Prophet

Week 1-The Hebrew Roots (The DNA of the Office)

Anchor Scripture: “Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” — Amos 3:7 (NKJV)

The Teaching
We conclude our first week by looking at the prophet’s most intimate title: The Servant. While “servant” (Ebed in Hebrew) might sound lowly to the modern ear, in the context of the King’s court, the “Servant of the King” was a position of extreme trust and high-level access. They were the ones who had “the ear of the King.”

Amos 3:7 reveals a stunning protocol in the Kingdom of Heaven: God has bound Himself to a partnership with His prophets. He says He does nothing—He does not judge, He does not shift a season, and He does not launch a move—without first revealing His “secret” to His servants.

Why would the Almighty God, who needs no advice, share His secrets with mortal men and women? Because the prophet is not just a worker; the prophet is a confidant. God is looking for a people who are so yielded and so close to His heart that He can trust them with His “hidden counsel.” To be a prophet is to be a part of God’s inner circle. It means that your primary job is not “prophesying” to people, but “listening” to God. The secret is the seed of the prophecy, and that seed is only given in the quiet place of service and proximity.

Prophetic Insight
Prophetic revelation is not about being “smarter” than others; it is about being “closer.” The secrets of the Lord are with those who fear Him. If you find that God is beginning to show you things before they happen, or giving you a “heads up” about shifts in your family or church, it is because He is inviting you into this “servant-confidant” relationship. He doesn’t want to surprise you with His actions; He wants to involve you in His intentions. Remember: the secret is not for your entertainment or to make you look important—it is for your intercession and preparation.

The Activation
Spend time today in “The Listener’s Posture.” Instead of going to God with your list of needs, go to Him as a servant and ask: “Lord, what is Your secret for today? Is there something on Your heart that You want to share with Your servant?” Have your journal ready. Sometimes the “secret” isn’t a future event; sometimes it’s just a deeper understanding of His love for someone you will meet today.

Daily Prayer: Lord God, I am humbled by the fact that You choose to share Your secrets with Your servants. I present myself to You today as Your ‘Ebed’—Your servant. I don’t want to live in the dark concerning what You are doing on the earth. Pull me closer to Your heart. Grant me the grace to be a faithful confidant. Teach me to hold Your secrets with honor and to speak only when You give the command. I am listening, Lord. Amen.
