Series: He Is (Week 4: The Ultimate Revelation in Christ)
Opening Prayer
Lord Jesus, our Resurrection and Life, we praise you that death has lost its sting and the grave has lost its victory. Our hope is secure in You.
Today’s Scripture (NLT)
John 11:25
“Jesus told her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.'”
In the face of death, at the tomb of His friend Lazarus, Jesus makes one of His most audacious and powerful “I AM” statements. He declares that He is The Resurrection and the Life.
This name reveals Jesus’s absolute power and authority over death itself. He doesn’t just give resurrection and life; He is resurrection and life. Life in its truest, eternal sense is found only in Him. Death is not the end for those who are in Christ; it is merely a doorway into a greater life. The promise is astounding: “Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.”
To know Jesus as the Resurrection and the Life is to have an unshakable hope that conquers our greatest fear. The same power that raised Lazarus from the tomb and, more importantly, raised Jesus Himself from the grave is at work in us. Because He lives, we will live also. Our future is secure, not because of our own merit, but because we are connected to the very source of life itself.
Disciple’s Life Tip: Interact with Jesus as the Resurrection and the Life. Think of a fear related to death or loss that you have. In prayer, bring that fear to Jesus and thank Him that He has defeated death. Ask His eternal life to replace your temporal fear.
Closing Prayer: Jesus, our Resurrection and our Life, we praise You for Your victory over the grave. Thank You for the certain hope of eternal life that we have in You. Our fear is silenced by Your power. Amen.
