Series: He Is (Week 4: The Ultimate Revelation in Christ)
Opening Prayer
Lord Jesus, our Messiah, we worship You as the long-awaited King, the fulfillment of all God’s promises.
Today’s Scripture (NLT)
John 1:41
“Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, ‘We have found the Messiah!’ (which means ‘Christ’).”
As we begin our final week, we see how all the names and attributes of God are ultimately and perfectly revealed in Jesus. We start with the title that defines His mission: Messiah (Hebrew) or Christ (Greek). Both words mean “The Anointed One.”
This name reveals Jesus as the fulfillment of all the Old Testament prophecies. God’s people had been waiting for centuries for a promised King, a deliverer who would be specially “anointed” by God to save them. In the Old Testament, prophets, priests, and kings were anointed with oil, signifying that they were set apart for God’s special purpose. Jesus is the ultimate Prophet, Priest, and King, all in one.
To know Jesus as the Christ is to recognize Him as God’s chosen and long-awaited solution to the problem of sin. He is not just a good teacher or a wise man; He is the divinely appointed Savior of the world. Andrew’s excited declaration, “We have found the Messiah!” is the confession of everyone who comes to faith. In Jesus, our search is over. The promised One has come.
Disciple’s Life Tip: Interact with Jesus as your Christ. Today, reflect on the three roles He fulfills as the Anointed One. Thank Him for being your Prophet (who speaks God’s truth), your Priest (who represents you to God), and your King (who rules over your life).
Closing Prayer: Jesus, our Christ, we praise You as the Anointed One we have been waiting for. Thank You for being our Prophet, Priest, and King. We joyfully place our lives under Your reign. Amen.
