The Living Gospel (Week 4: Living a Shareable Life)
Opening Prayer
Lord, may we be good stewards of every platform you give us, using our online voice to speak words of hope, truth, and life.
Today’s Scripture (NLT)
Ephesians 4:29
“Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.”
In the 21st century, our “neighbors” are not just the people who live next door; they are also the hundreds or thousands of people in our social media feeds. Our digital voice is a powerful tool, and God calls us to steward it for His glory. This verse, written long before the internet, provides the perfect filter for all our online communication.
The command is to let everything you say—every post, every comment, every share—be “good and helpful.” Our online presence should be a source of encouragement, not anger, division, or negativity. In a digital world that is often filled with outrage and cynicism, a Christian’s voice should be a beacon of hope and grace.
How can you do this? You can share a verse that encouraged you. You can post about how God was faithful in a specific situation. You can leave a kind, uplifting comment on a friend’s post. You can share your testimony in a blog or a video. Your social media feed is a modern-day public square, and it’s a powerful and legitimate place to let your living gospel be read.
Disciples’ Life Tip: Before you post or comment anything online today, run it through the filter of Ephesians 4:29. Ask yourself: “Is this good? Is this helpful? Is this an encouragement?” If the answer is no, don’t post it.
Closing Prayer: Father God, forgive me for the times I have used my digital voice carelessly. I dedicate my social media to You. May everything I type be good, helpful, and an encouragement to those who read it. Amen.
