The Living Gospel (Week 4: Living a Shareable Life)
Opening Prayer
Lord, open our eyes to see our daily lives not as a routine, but as a divinely appointed mission field where we can be Your light.
Today’s Scripture (NLT)
Colossians 4:5
“Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.”
Now that we have uncovered and crafted our stories, where do we share them? The answer is simple: right where you are. Your mission field is not a faraway country you might visit one day; it is the everyday territory of your life. It’s your kitchen table, your office cubicle, your neighborhood sidewalk, your child’s soccer game.
The command is to “live wisely among those who are not believers.” This means our lives are constantly on display. We are called to be intentional and strategic in our daily interactions, making our lives an attractive picture of the Gospel. The second command builds on the first: “make the most of every opportunity.” A casual conversation, a chance to help a neighbor, an opportunity to show grace to a difficult coworker—these are not interruptions; they are divine appointments.
Living a shareable life means seeing every part of your day as an opportunity to reflect the love of Jesus. It’s about being a missionary disguised as a parent, an accountant, a student, or a retiree. When you see your life this way, the mundane becomes meaningful, and every day becomes an adventure in mission.
Disciples’ Life Tip: As you go through your day, look at the people you interact with and silently pray, “Lord, help me to see this person as part of my mission field. Show me how to love them well today.”
Closing Prayer: Father God, thank You for entrusting me with a mission field right where I am. Give me a wise and watchful heart, ready to make the most of every opportunity You place in my path for Your glory. Amen.
