Opening Prayer
Lord, may our greatest joy be found in investing our lives in others, creating a legacy of faith that will outlast us for your glory.
Today’s Scripture (NLT)
2 Timothy 2:2
“You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.”
As we conclude our 28-day journey, we arrive at the ultimate vision of a “Beyond Sunday” life. The Apostle Paul gives his final instruction to his spiritual son, Timothy. He essentially says, “Everything I have invested in you, I want you to invest in others, who will then be able to invest in others.” This is spiritual multiplication.
This is the goal of all our abiding, growing, and resting. The ultimate win is not just becoming a mature disciple, but making disciples who will one day make other disciples. This creates a legacy of faith that ripples out into eternity, far beyond our own personal reach.
There is a profound joy in seeing someone you have invested in begin to flourish in their own faith and start investing in someone else. It is the joy of spiritual parenting and grandparenting. This is God’s plan A for growing His church, and there is no plan B. He has entrusted us with the message and the method: to personally invest our lives in a few, who will then invest in a few, until the whole world knows the love of Jesus.
Disciples’ Life Tip: Look at the people you are investing in. Begin to pray for them not just to grow, but to become disciple-makers themselves. Ask God to give you a vision for the legacy of faith that can start with your investment in them.
Closing Prayer: Father, thank you for the privilege of leaving a legacy of faith. May our lives be poured out as an investment in others, creating a chain of grace that will continue until the day Jesus returns. Amen.
