Opening Prayer
Lord, thank you for the journey. Keep our eyes fixed on you as we continue to walk the path home, day by day, by your grace.
Today’s Scripture (NLT)
Philippians 3:13b-14
“…I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”
We have come to the end of our 28-day devotional series, but we are at the beginning of a lifelong journey. The Christian life is not a single destination we arrive at, but a continuous journey of grace, growth, and becoming more like Jesus.
The Apostle Paul gives us the perfect mindset for the road ahead. First, we are to be “forgetting the past.” This means not being held back by the guilt of our past failures, nor resting on the laurels of our past successes. We live in the grace of today. Second, we are to be “looking forward to what lies ahead.” Our gaze is fixed on the future hope we have in Christ.
With this focus, we “press on.” The journey won’t always be easy. There will be mountains to climb and valleys to walk through. But we press on, not in our own strength, but empowered by the Spirit, surrounded by our spiritual family, and with our eyes on the ultimate prize: hearing our Father say, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Welcome home.”
Disciples’ Life Tip: What is “one thing” you can focus on this week to “press on” in your journey? Is it consistency in the Word? Deeper prayer? Intentionally serving someone? Choose one thing and take a step forward.
Closing Prayer: Father, thank You for the high calling to press on toward You. May our lives be a testament to Your faithfulness as we walk this lifelong journey home. We can’t wait to see You face to face. Amen.
