The Simple “Yes”

October 4, 2025

By Andrew Williams

Opening Prayer
God, give us the courage today to respond to your incredible offer of grace with a simple and sincere “yes.”

Today’s Scripture: Romans 10:9 (NLT)
“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

After everything we’ve learned this week—our emptiness, our purpose, our sin, and Christ’s sacrifice—it all comes down to this one moment of personal response. God has done everything necessary to build the bridge back to Him. The invitation to come home has been sent. Now, the choice is ours. How do we cross that bridge?

This verse makes the path incredibly clear. It is not a complex religious formula; it is a simple act of faith. It involves two parts that are two sides of the same coin: our mouth and our heart. To “openly declare that Jesus is Lord” means to surrender the leadership of your life to Him. It’s saying, “I’m done trying to be my own god. You are in charge now.”

To “believe in your heart” means to place your full trust in the finished work of Jesus—that His death and resurrection were enough to pay for your sin. It’s not just intellectual agreement; it’s a deep reliance. That’s it. A sincere declaration and a genuine belief. That is the simple “yes” that brings you across the bridge from death to life, from being lost to being found, from spiritual homelessness to your true home in God.

Disciples’ Life Tip: If you have never said “yes” to Jesus, you can do it right now. Simply pray from your heart: “Jesus, I declare that you are Lord. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my old life and I put my trust in you. Save me.”

Closing Prayer: Father God, thank You for making the way of salvation so clear and accessible. May many today find the courage to say their simple “yes” to You. Amen.
