Opening Prayer:
Father, thank you for rescuing us. Open our eyes to understand the profound reality of what it means to belong to Your Kingdom.
Today’s Scripture: Colossians 1:13(NLT)
“For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son.”
Have you ever wondered why life as a Christian can feel like a fight? Why there’s so much resistance, temptation, and opposition? This verse gives us the primary reason. Before you knew Jesus, you were a citizen of “the kingdom of darkness.” But the moment you put your faith in Christ, God performed a divine rescue mission. He didn’t just forgive you; He “transferred” you. Your spiritual citizenship, your allegiance, your passport—it all changed.
You are now a citizen of the “Kingdom of his dear Son.” This is the most amazing news, but it also means you are now seen as a traitor to your old kingdom. The kingdom of darkness does not let its citizens go without a fight. The resistance you feel is not random. It’s the reaction of a defeated kingdom trying to harass and reclaim a citizen it has lost forever.
So when you face spiritual resistance, don’t be discouraged. Be encouraged! It is proof that you no longer belong to the darkness. It’s a sign that your transfer was successful and that the King of the new Kingdom you belong to is worth fighting for. You are a target because you have been rescued.
Disciple’s Life Tip:
Take a moment today to thank God for your new citizenship. Pray this simple prayer: “Thank you, Lord, for rescuing me from the kingdom of darkness and transferring me to the Kingdom of light. Help me to live like a loyal citizen of Your Kingdom today.”
Never forget: You have changed Kingdoms; that’s the primary reason for the fight!
Closing Prayer: God, help us to stand firm, remembering that the resistance we face is proof of the rescue You have accomplished. Amen.
