“The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.” – Acts 8:34-35 (NIV)
Good morning fellow disciples.
Acts 8:34-35 describes the encounter between Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch, who was struggling to understand a passage from the prophet Isaiah. The eunuch’s sincere question, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” opens the door for Philip to share the Gospel. Verse 35 highlights Philip’s skilled and focused approach: “Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.” This passage demonstrates the importance of grounding evangelism in the Scriptures and centering the message on Jesus Christ.
As a disciple, you are called to share the Gospel with others and to help them understand the truth about Jesus. Philip’s example reminds you of the importance of studying the Scriptures, of understanding the Gospel message, and of being able to connect the Old Testament prophecies with the fulfillment in Jesus Christ. You are empowered to be a teacher, a guide, and a witness to the transforming power of the Gospel.
This week, commit to deepening your understanding of the Scriptures and to strengthening your ability to articulate the Gospel message. Identify passages in the Old Testament that point to Jesus and practice explaining them in a clear and concise way. Look for opportunities to share your knowledge with others and to help them discover the truth about Jesus.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to understand the Scriptures and to articulate the Gospel message with clarity and conviction. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, so that I may be a teacher, a guide, and a witness to Your transforming power. Open doors for me to share Your truth with others and to help them discover the joy of knowing You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
