“The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.” Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.” – Acts 8:29-31 (NIV)
Good morning fellow disciples.
Acts 8:29-31 highlights Philip’s responsiveness to the Holy Spirit’s promptings and his willingness to engage with others. After being directed to the desert road, “The Spirit told Philip, ‘Go to that chariot and stay near it.'” Without hesitation, Philip obeyed, running to the chariot and engaging in conversation with the Ethiopian eunuch. The passage emphasizes both obedience and relational proximity, and creates a unique opportunity for Philip to impact someone who was already seeking understanding.
As a disciple, you are called to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and to be ready to act on His promptings, even when they seem unexpected or inconvenient. Philip’s example reminds you that God often works through ordinary people who are willing to be used by Him. You are empowered to be a vessel of His love, His grace, and His truth in your everyday interactions.
This week, pay attention to the subtle promptings of the Holy Spirit in your life. Be open to opportunities to engage with others, to share your faith, and to offer a helping hand. Trust that God will use your willingness to be available to make a difference in the lives of those around you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be sensitive to the leading of Your Holy Spirit and to be ready to act on His promptings. Give me the courage to step out in faith, to engage with others, and to share my faith with boldness. Use me to be a vessel of Your love, Your grace, and Your truth in the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
