Good morning fellow disciples.
John 1:35-37, 40 introduces us to Andrew at a pivotal moment. He is a disciple of John the Baptist, but when John identifies Jesus as the “Lamb of God,” Andrew, along with another disciple, immediately follows Jesus. Andrew’s story exemplifies humility and a genuine desire to learn from the true Messiah. He doesn’t hesitate to leave his current teacher to follow Jesus, demonstrating a heart open to truth and willing to act upon it.
As a disciple, you might not always be in the spotlight. You may feel like you’re playing a supporting role, just like Andrew. But remember, every role in God’s kingdom is vital. Andrew’s significance lies not just in following Jesus, but in what he did next: he sought out his brother Simon Peter and brought him to Jesus. You are empowered to introduce others to Christ through your actions, words, and genuine love. Your “behind-the-scenes” efforts can have an eternal impact, just like Andrew’s introduction of Peter, who would become a pillar of the early church. Don’t underestimate the power of your influence, no matter how small it may seem.
This week, consider those in your life who may be searching for something more. Pray for opportunities to share your faith and introduce them to Jesus. Don’t feel pressured to have all the answers or to be a perfect evangelist. Simply invite them to experience the love and grace of Christ. It could be a simple invitation to church, a kind word of encouragement, or a shared story of how Jesus has impacted your life. Redirect your focus to sharing Jesus with someone this week.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of Andrew and his humble yet impactful role in introducing others to Jesus. Give me the courage and compassion to share my faith with those in my life who may be searching for something more. Help me to be a faithful witness to Your love and grace, and empower me to introduce others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
